Speed Enforcement Van Program
Since the summer of 2025, the Greeley Police Department has utilized special vans to monitor traffic speeds and enforce minor traffic violations. Greeley City Council passed corridors outlining areas that are allowed to be enforced outside of the Colorado Revised Statute 42-4.110.5 restrictions of residential areas, surrounding parks, and school/construction zones.
- There are currently 2 vans scheduled to be deployed 7 days a week.
- Photographs and license plate information are stored only for those vehicles that violate the speed limit restrictions.
- Our speed vans only collect registration information associated with the license plate on the vehicle and a photograph of the driver committing the infraction.
- Citations are only given to those going 10 miles per hour or more over the speed limit on a normal roadway speed limit and 6 miles per hour or more over the speed limit in a school zone controlled speed limit roadway.
- The first offense of 6-9 miles per hour over the speed limit in a school zone is a mailed warning. A second offense for anything over 6 miles per hour over the speed limit in a school zone results in a fine.
- Fines are $40 for normal roadways and $80 for school and construction zones.
- Photographs and license plate information are purged after a certain time and not shared with any other entity other than the Greeley Police Department and Verra Mobility, the vendor that sends out the citations.
