Drone as First Responder Program
The Greeley Police Department uses drone technology for rapid response to calls for service and to assist investigations from above.
About the Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program:
Our Drone as First Responder program uses remotely operated drones flown by certified pilots to support responses to high-priority calls where aerial information may improve safety for officers and the public. These drones are deployed only for call response purposes and are not used for proactive enforcement or general surveillance.
All UAS operations are conducted in compliance with the U.S. Constitution, Colorado law, local ordinances, Department policy, and all applicable FAA regulations.
Protecting privacy is a top priority. Absent a warrant or exigent circumstances, personnel will not intentionally record or transmit images of places where a person has a reasonable expectation of privacy, and drone pilots take reasonable precautions to avoid capturing private areas during operations.
