Industrial Pretreatment Program
The Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP) protects the Cache la Poudre River by monitoring industry-created pollutants. Our team tracks discharges from industrial and commercial users into our wastewater system to meet EPA requirements. The EPA mandates the program and ensures that water coming out of Greeley’s Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation Facility (WTRF) meets public safety and environmental standards.
The program requires that department and industrial customers:
- Prevent pollutants getting into the wastewater treatment plant and collection system that might pass through treatment without being removed or that are incompatible with the treatment processes.
- Prevent pollutants from getting into the wastewater treatment plant and collection system that might interfere with treatment operations or the use or disposal of biosolids.
- Improve the feasibility of recycling/reclaiming municipal and industrial wastewater and biosolids.
- Protect the general health and safety of wastewater treatment plant and collection system employees.
- Enforce applicable EPA categorical standards.
