GREELEY, Colo. — Ballots will soon be mailed to registered voters in the City of Greeley for a Special Election on Ballot Issue 1A, scheduled for February 24, 2026. Ballots will be mailed beginning February 3, and voters will have multiple options to return their ballot by mail or by secure drop box.

The special election is a mail ballot election. Voters may return their ballot by mail, affixing postage, or drop it off at one of four secure, 24-hour ballot dropbox locations:

  • Aims College Cornerstone Building – 5401 W 20th Street
  • Greeley City Hall – 1000 10th Street
  • UNC University Center – 2101 10th Avenue
  • Weld County Election Office – 1250 H Street

Ballots must be received by the City Clerk by 7 p.m. on February 24 to be counted. Postmarks by that date will not count.

Voters who do not receive a ballot or need a replacement may request one by mail through February 16, or obtain a ballot in person at Greeley City Hall, 1000 10th Street, during regular business hours. Hours will be extended on Election Day with offices open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"Special elections are designed to give voters the opportunity to directly decide on a specific issue,” said Heidi Leatherwood, Greeley City Clerk. “Our role is to ensure voters have clear and accurate information about the election, important dates, and know how to cast their ballot so their vote is counted.”

About the Special Election

The Special Election was triggered by a successful referendum petition seeking to repeal Ordinance 30, 2025. Ordinance 30, 2025 was passed by City Council to rezone a 834-acre parcel known as Cascadia, Catalyst, or the West Greeley project to Planned Unit Development (PUD). A ‘Yes’ vote would revert the property to its previous zoning designation. A ‘No’ vote would uphold council’s decision and maintain the approved PUD zoning.

Official ballot language, a sample ballot, Pro/Con Statements, and other important election information can be found on the Special Election webpage: https://greeleyco.gov/special-election-ordinance-30-2025.
